Admission Requirements
The designation of Dietetics-Seeking or Dietetics-Exploring as a major does not assure admission to the Dietetics Program. Students must make a seperate application to the Distance Dietetics Program. Prior to acceptance into the Program, students must have:
- Earned a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale including courses to be transferred and those completed at 国产AV
- Junior status (>60 semester credit hours by time of program start)
- Equivalent to an Associates degree
- Complete the following courses with grades of C or higher prior to the start of the
program (C- is not acceptable):
- BIO 110 Principles of Biology (4) - includes lab
- BIO 245 Introduction to Human Anatomy and Physiology (4)
- Includes a lab; if split into I and II students should take both I and II to have all body systems
- CHEM 111 (4) and CHEM 111L (1) Principles of Chemistry and Lab
- CHEM 231 Principles of Organic Chemistry (3) - recommended to be completed before starting in a cohort
- FND 210 Medical Terminology (2)
- FND 250 Principles of Nutrition (3)
- PSY 120 Principles of Psychology (3)
- STAT 150 Introduction to Statistical Analysis (3)
In accordance with University Policies, coursework earned more than 10 years prior to the date of matriculation to 国产AV may not be used to satisfy any major, minor, or licensure requirements. Any exception to this policy is at discretion of the academic program.
The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics also offers an ACEND accredited Dietetic Internship, a Master of Science in Dietetics combined with the Dietetic Internship, and a stand-alone Master of Science in Dietetics. Application for these programs is seperate from the Dietetics B.S. program.
NOTE: Beginning January 1, 2024, the degree requirement for dietitian registration eligibility will be a Master's degree.
